raycam: X-ray beam camera
The Xraycam is a high resolution CMOS camera coupled to a screen that converts X-rays into visible light. It will show an image of the direct X-ray beam in 25 fold magnification on a smartphone, tablet or PC monitor.

Xraycam   vs.  marcam

The Xraycam is a complete new development introduced in 2024. It is a full replacement for the   marcam   that has been in use for 25 years. Thanks to new imaging technologies, the new camera outperforms the previous instrument in every single aspect.

CAMERA CHIP

The Xraycam comes with a 12MP CMOS chip with 4000x3000 pixels. The marcam has a plain 0.5 MP CCD camera chip with 640x480 pixels.

FIELD OF VIEW

Approx. 30 x 20 mm for Xraycam and 25 x 18 mm for the marcam

SPATIAL RESOLUTION

The high resolution sensor of the new Xraycam offers much finer detail of the beam. Both pictures shown below were taken under the same conditions on a microsource generator operated at 20 Watt.

INTERFACE

The Xraycam comes with a modern USB-C interface that connects to a PC, smartphone or tablet without needing drivers. You can therefore use monitors from conventional devices to look at the beam. The marcam, in contrast, came with a coaxial BNC connector that required special monitors.

Highlights

NO X-RAY LEAKAGE

The Xraycam comes with a set of adapters, that allow you to couple it directly to the X-ray optics to be aligned. The beam is completely enclosed and the user does not risk exposure to scattered X-rays.

INDEPENDENT OF AMBIENT LIGHT

Since the camera displays the image of the beam on a monitor, there is no reason to turn the room lights off. Alignment procedures can be completed in adequate lighting to see small parts.

ACCESSORIES

The Xraycam is shipped in a compact suitcase. It includes the camera unit and several adapters for use with different X-ray optics . We also add a versatile magnetic stand to the package as well as am USB-C cable and an adapter for mobile devices. And as bonus a nice holder for smartphones or tablets.

MANY APPLICATIONS

The Xraycam replaces the older marcam as well as fluorescent paddles and pin diodes. It is useful for aligning monochromators, multilayers and focusing mirrors. It can also be used to check the focus of a rotating anode or metaljet generator.

X-RAY SAFETY

The camera eliminates X-ray scatter and leakage during the alignment procedure. It also frees the hand that traditionally holds the fluorescent paddle. Since the image is displayed on a monitor, there is no need to lean into the radiation enclosure and get close to the beam to see the result of adjustments.

25-FOLD MAGNIFICATION

The large image displayed on a monitor makes it much easier to observe the effect of alignment adjustments when working with mirrors. The user can confidently choose the double diffracted beam and obtain maximum intensity and purity with certainty. This also makes the camera a good teaching tool.

AFFORDABLE

The Xraycam is priced to replace your marcam, pin diode or fluorescent paddle. Contact us for a quote based on your specific needs.
